Privacy statement

This page explains what happens to your details when you use this website or send us an enquiry. It covers Plumbing Gasfitting Maintenance and this website only.

What we collect

If you fill in the quote form, we collect your name, phone number, email address, the suburb you are in and whatever you write in the message box. We collect these because we cannot quote a job without knowing what it is and how to reach you.

If you ring or email us instead, we hold whatever you tell us in that call or message.

The site also records anonymous usage information: which pages were viewed, roughly which part of the country the visit came from, and whether someone tapped a phone number or sent the form. This is not tied to a name and we cannot identify you from it.

We do not take payments on this site, there are no accounts to create, and we do not run a mailing list.

What we do with it

Enquiry details are used to answer your enquiry, quote the work, do the work and keep the business records we are required to keep. We do not sell your details, and we do not pass them to anyone else for marketing.

The anonymous usage information is used to see which pages are doing their job and whether people are finding what they came for.

Who else can see it

Two services are involved in running this site, and both store information outside New Zealand.

• Basin receives what you type into the quote form and passes it to our email inbox. It holds a copy on its servers.
• Google Analytics collects the anonymous usage information described above, using cookies stored by your browser.

Because both are overseas services, information sent through them is held outside New Zealand and is subject to the laws of the country it is stored in.

Cookies

The only cookies this site sets are the Google Analytics ones. They do not identify you and nothing on this site depends on them. You can block or delete them in your browser settings and every page will still work exactly as it does now.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for as long as we need them to do the work and to meet our record keeping and tax obligations. Anonymous usage information is deleted by Google after 14 months.

Keeping it safe

This site is served over an encrypted connection, so what you type into the form is encrypted on its way to us. Enquiries land in a password protected email account. No system is perfect, but we take reasonable steps to keep your details secure and we only hold what we actually need.

Seeing or correcting your details

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Ring or email us and we will sort it out. There is no charge and we will come back to you within 20 working days.

You can also ask us to delete an enquiry, and we will, unless we are required to keep it as a business record.

If you are not happy

Tell us first and we will try to put it right. If you are still not satisfied you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, the independent body that handles privacy complaints in New Zealand, atprivacy.org.nz.
